 AMPPR Board Elects Two Members

Two openings were created on the AMPPR board of directors, necessitated by the untimely death of Robert J. Lurtsema and the timely move from Nebraska Public Radio to WFMT in Chicago by Steve Robinson, who now holds an ex-officio position on the AMPPR board. AMPPR elected Bob Goldfarb and Randy Kinkel to fill the two positions.

Bob Goldfarb has been working in radio since high school. In 1972 he took his first paying job in classical music radio at WCRB in Boston and later became music director of WCRB.
After two years away from radio to earn an MBA at the Harvard Business School, he worked for NPR in Washington and then became GM of WFCR in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1979. He was subsequently executive director of Eastern Public Radio, chief operating officer of KUSC in Los Angeles, and vice-president of programming at KFAC in Los Angeles. He spent the 1990s working in New York in the classical music business as director of U.S. operations for Teldec Records and then as executive director of the American Composers Alliance. He also took on numerous projects as a freelance consultant.
Earlier this year he returned to public radio with the title of Director of Broadcasting and New Media at KUSC, Los Angeles.

Randy Kinkel is announcer/producer and host of the highly-rated midday program “The Mozart Buffet” on all-classical KBAQ in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been there since the station first went on the air seven years ago. Previous jobs included on-air and producer positions at WBJC, Baltimore; The Radio Reading Network of Maryland; WTMD, Towson, Maryland; WETS, Johnson City, Tennessee; and WKYU, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In his spare time Randy paints, draws cartoons, plays piano, and tries to keep the birds out of the vegetable garden. He and Nancy live with their blended family of three beagles and two cats.
