Tri States Public Radio at Western Illinois University has an opening for a Radio Station Production Supervisor: Music Director. The successful applicant will be experienced in on-air broadcasting, music programming, remote broadcast production, and taped and live interviews. In addition to hosting a daily classical music program, you must be flexible in accepting additional on-air hosting duties as required and reaching out socially and professionally to the large community. Upon interview, applicants must demonstrate a broad understanding of classical, jazz and folk music, and the ability to conceive and produce programs that reflect that insight to a knowledgeable audience. We seek a person who sounds professional and personable on the air. A mature voice and accurate but unaffected pronunciation of classical music names and titles is essential.  

 
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications (credentials to be verified by placement officer):

1. Bachelor's degree, with course work in radio or radio-journalism

2. One year of radio experience

The President and CEO of All Classical 89.9 will bring visionary leadership, business acumen, contemporary management skills, and creativity to collaborate with board, staff, and stakeholders to shape the organization's long-term success. Entrepreneurial leadership within the arts community to broaden the station's reach and deepen the community's appreciation for the arts in general and specifically classical music is necessary.  A specific emphasis on community relations, external outreach, and fundraising for endowment as well as a continued focus on growth and operational excellence will be required.

All Classical 89.9 values a background and technical expertise in not-for-profit or foundation management and leadership as well as board and donor relations experience.  Broadcasting management or a like pursuit would be an asset but is not required. Working with and developing a board at the senior level, managing a professional (union) staff, and experience in the cultural arts, marketing, sales or communications is sought. Demonstrated success in the fundraising, communications, relationship development, and organizational arenas will be necessary. 

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with the successful candidate's experience.

WFIU Music Director/Programmer

Directs the WFIU-FM music operations. Duties include programming, maintaining music data base, script writing and editing, digital audio editing, program production, interfacing with station operations and traffic systems. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in music or related field and three years in music production, programming, date base management required. Thorough knowledge of classical music repertoire/history and strong multi-disciplinary knowledge of literature and the arts essential. Proven experience in scriptwriting, music analysis and/or criticism, and skilled in digital audio editing, as well as excellent computer skills and the ability to learn programs quickly necessary. Two years of professional public radio on-air experience in announcing, producing, and fundraising strongly preferred. Master's degree in musicology or related field and familiarity with classical music public radio program delivery systems, methodologies, and data bases preferred.

KPAC is a 100,000 watt station full time classical music station. The person selected for this position will host regularly scheduled broadcast on KPAC, create and produce specialty programming including the weekly “Classical Spotlight” program, contribute to TPR’s online content and program music for some classical music programs on Texas Public Radio.   • Bachelor’s degree in music, communications or broadcasting fields, plus 1-year experience in radio broadcasting.
  • Requires knowledge of classical music, console board operations, digital editing, copywriting skills, plus familiarity with multi-lingual pronunciations.
  • Subject to various shift work including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • A 5-year combination of specified education and experience will qualify.


WRR is Texas’ first radio station and the second oldest commercially licensed station in the United States and it is owned by the City of Dallas. WRR has maintained its classical format since 1948. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day from historic Fair Park in Dallas, Texas, at 100,000 watts and is heard throughout North Texas. WRR also streams live audio on the internet at wrr101.com.
