Hospitality Services:

Convention Hospitality Services (CHS) will provide a professionally-staffed, complimentary hospitality desk for our conference. They will be our on-site concierge service to assist our attendess with questions about the city and the surrounding area, with plans for tours and cruises (River, Dinner and Aquarium/Zoo Cruises; City, Swamp, Plantation, and Walking Tours), and restaurant reservations. Their aim is to provide our attendees with the “best southern hospitality service” in New Orleans.

CHS will supply menus, maps, brochures; and because they own and operate the Steamboat NATCHEZ and the Riverboat JOHN JAMES AUDUBON, our attendees can book discounted boat cruises through them.

The hospitality desk will be located near the MPC registration desk, and it will be open

Sites, Sounds, and How to Get Around
New Orleans

Here are some suggestions for activities in your spare time:

Have lunch or Dinner at a Grand New Orleans Restaurant
Tour at least one old cemetery.
Take a Mississippi River Cruise
Visit Bourbon Street at night.
Spend the afternoon at NOMA and City Park
Walk the French Market end to end.
Eat a po-boy or a muffeletta
Ride the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar round-trip
Have cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde.
Take the Walking Tour of the French Quarter
Visit Mid City Lanes Rock 'N' Bowl. Wednesday is zydeco night.
Go to Snug Harbor, a great room for jazz where people actually listen to the music.
Enjoy Eddie Bo, who plays for free during Happy Hour at Tipitina's in the French Quarter
on weekends.

Tipitina's at Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas is a landmark New Orleans R&B haunt.
Irma Thomas owns her own club, the Lion's Den on Gravier, but call first, or check the Gambit listings.
Ernie K-Doe's Mother-In-Law Lounge usually has something going on.
For a first-timer who's a trad jazz fan, there's Preservation Hall.
The "best" record store in New Orleans, The Louisiana Music Factory on Decatur across the street from House of Blues, has free live music in the store every Saturday afternoon.
Check Offbeat or Gambit to see who's playing at the new Levon Helm's Cafe American.
Also check to see who's playing at one of the slightly outlying Cajun places like Mulate's in Breaux Bridge.
