The Hyatt Regency Hotel is located on the river, with river views from almost every window. The downtown and other historic sections of Savannah are close by. February is a good time to visit, by all accounts, and the food is always a treat. Plan to be with us for another great conference next February, when we’ll have important sessions to attend and, as always, the best entertainment to be found in any town.

Travel Tips from American Airlines

To make sure your upcoming trips are comfortable and efficient, here are some tips and information to get you through the airport as quickly as possible.

When packing, please remember that new Federal carry-on rules allow one standard-size carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse, laptop computer, small book-type backpack or briefcase. If you're going to pack sharp objects such as scissors or knives, be sure to place these in checked baggage, because these items are not allowed in carry-ons. And the new federal security rules require customers who have checked baggage to fly on the same flight as their checked bags. If you're checking bags, be sure your name and contact information are on the outside and inside of each bag.

If you're checking bags for a domestic flight, we recommend that you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before departure. If you only have carry-ons, plan to arrive 60 minutes before departure. For international flights, because of increased security procedures, we advise airport arrival two hours before departure. Have your government-issued photo ID available at all times, as well as a printed itinerary if you're using an electronic ticket.

When you arrive at the security checkpoint, please take laptops out of carrying cases before putting them through screening devices, and be prepared for additional hand searches of carry-ons.

Note: Damage to laptops by X-ray machines is increasing. To protect your laptop, put it in a plastic bin before having it x-rayed. If no bin is available, place the laptop's carrying case in front of the computer to act as a cushion when the laptop slides out the other side. Make sure your name and phone or pager number are clearly inscribed on the laptop, in case it gets momentarily confused with someone else's computer or forgotten and left behind at a security checkpoint.
