MPC 40 Agenda and Registration Issue
President’s Corner

Dear Members,

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” These words by Berthold Auerback certainly take on a whole new meaning in light of recent events and underscore the importance and necessity of what we do for a living.

Music and radio, two powerful communications media, can bring great comfort to Americans right now. As we deal with a wide range of emotions sparked by the events of September 11 and return to our daily lives, it is important that we meet with our colleagues and renew our resolve to provide a much needed and worthwhile service to our communities.  How fortunate we are, now more than ever, to have an organization like AMPPR, which remains committed to working with you to support your efforts and to give you the tools and techniques to accomplish your goals.

Toward that end, the Music Personnel Conference will take place in Savannah, and we invite you to take this opportunity to renew your commitment to quality music on our public airwaves. Our conference planners are ready to receive your registrations and to respond to your concerns and questions.

Note that we are marking our 40th anniversary with

• important and timely topics, including a session that was to be presented at the PRPD during the week of September 11, plus an opportunity for YOU to help plan our future;
• special entertainment throughout the four-day conference, beginning with the Sony opening reception and ending with the Universal Classics closing banquet;
• drawings for great prizes, including the awarding of the Grand Prize sponsored by Grove’s Dictionaries at the closing banquet;
• a tour of historic Savannah.

We can continue to be of service to you and your communities. This annual event is our opportunity to recharge our batteries, renew our drive to be better announcers, programmers, and managers, and to be a part of the creative team that makes public radio what it will become in the NEXT 40 years.

We want to chronicle this milestone year with birthday greetings and reminiscences of MPCs past, so please visit our guest book at http://amppr.org and leave us a message. We look forward to hearing from you. See you in Savannah!
